  Saint Mary’s hosts Minnesota Character Awards Saint Mary’s in partnership with Synergy & Leadership Exchange hosted the Character Recognition Awards luncheon on May 17 on its Minneapolis campus. Six schools, leaders and community programs were honored in four different categories: Minnesota Ethical Leadership Award, Minnesota Promising Practices Award, Promising Principal Award, and Champion of Character.   The Minnesota Ethical Leadership Award celebrates community programs developing character strengths and ethical leadership skills in its participants. Two programs were recognized: Minnesota Rural Education Association and Resources for Recovery. Saint Mary’s welcomes Dr. Kristin Melley, the executive director of Dominican Veritas Ministries, to present to the inaugural cohort of students in the Catholic school leadership program.

Saint Mary’s has published a special issue of AXIS: Journal of Lasallian Higher Education dedicated to university character education.

Saint Mary's is excited to welcome Dr. Julie Sperry this year to lead a four-session profession development cohort on Character Education Leadership. Full scholarships are available for the first 75 who register. 

As part of our university-wide focus on character and virtue education, Saint Mary's is happy to welcome James Arthur, Kristján Kristjánsson, and Andrew Peterson from the Jubilee Centre this fall.

Professor Kristján Kristjánsson, professor of character education and virtue ethics in the school of education at the University of Birmingham (UK) and deputy director of the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues, will present “Universities as Schools of Friendship.”
