Forming Character within the University

Saint Mary’s welcomed Michael Lamb, Ph.D. to present “Several Reasons why it is Good to form Character within the University.” This presentation was open to students, faculty, and staff of Saint Mary’s and took place on October 18, 2021 at 3 pm on the Twin Cities campus. Dr. Lamb will also facilitate a seminar for faculty on strategies for character development in the context of higher education, the topic of his forthcoming article in the Journal of Character Education.

Character Education in the University

Saint Mary’s welcomes Julie Nagashima, Ph.D. to present “Faculty Perceptions of University Character Education.” Based on recent research by Dr. Nagashima, this presentation is open to students, faculty, and staff of Saint Mary’s and will take place on November 10, 2021 at 3 pm on the Twin Cities campus.

The workshop will take place on April 26, 2022 on the Minneapolis campus.

Aquinas on Virtue: Justin M. Anderson, Ph.D. to speak at Saint Mary’s

Saint Mary’s welcomes Justin M. Anderson, Ph.D. on May 2 to present “Thomas Aquinas, FSC? What Aquinas Could Say about Virtue in the Lasallian Tradition.” Earlier in the day, Dr. Anderson will lead a faculty seminar on his most recent book Virtue and Grace in the Theology of Thomas Aquinas. 

School of Education to host Character Recognition Awards

  Saint Mary’s hosts Minnesota Character Awards Saint Mary’s in partnership with Synergy & Leadership Exchange hosted the Character Recognition Awards luncheon on May 17 on its Minneapolis campus. Six schools, leaders and community programs were honored in four different categories: Minnesota Ethical Leadership Award, Minnesota Promising Practices Award, Promising Principal Award, and Champion of Character.   The Minnesota Ethical Leadership Award celebrates community programs developing character strengths and ethical leadership skills in its participants. Two programs were recognized: Minnesota Rural Education Association and Resources for Recovery.
