Professor Kristján Kristjánsson, professor of character education and virtue ethics in the school of education at the University of Birmingham (UK) and deputy director of the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues, will present “Universities as Schools of Friendship.”

Undergraduate students are invited to participate in our Character and Virtue Discussion Series from February 9th to April 12th in Toner Lounge! Come and get a free copy of the book "How to be a Good Friend" and discuss various topics from each of the readings. Pizza will be provided.

Dr. Christine Beech will present on Tuesday, February 28 at 10:30 am in Brother Louis Hall room 124 on the Minneapolis campus. The title of her presentation is "Creating a foundation for personal choice - civic virtues, moral formation, and character education in the American Business School."

Saint Mary’s welcomes Michael Lehan, Head of School at IMG Academy, as Keynote Speaker for the 2023 Character Awards. He received his Bachelor of Science in Family Social Sciences in 2002 from the University of Minnesota, where he played football under coach Mason. After college, Michael played for six years in the NFL with the Browns, Dolphins, and Saints. He holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from St. Mary’s University, an Educational Specialist Degree, K-12 principal licensure, and Superintendent licensure.
